A closer look at our tea wash process! Tea washing involves intentionally dying a rug or a rug's fringe to give the rug a more antique appearance. Some rugs are designed to look older than they actually are and having bright white fringe could ruin the antique look. Recently, we were able to help our returning customer, Owen, by tea washing the fringe of his wool rug. As you can see from the pictures, when done properly tea washing requires great attention to detail. We hand paint the tea washing dyes onto the fringe before rinsing to reveal the lovely antique coloring!
