Rug Inspection & Pickup
Initial Assessment: A thorough inspection is done to identify your rugs’ stability, dyes, stains, possible rug repair suggestions and answer your questions.
Pickup: The rug is collected from your location at the scheduled time. After that, we carefully bring it to our wash plant for a pre-wash inspection.
Rug Follow-Up Inspection
After arriving at our washing facility, the owner will do a more detailed inspection to identify any hidden issues that require special attention. The rug cleaning method and process are chosen based on your rug's fiber type, dyes, foundation, origin and general condition. The rug cleaning process might vary based on your area rug.
Rug Dusting
Our gentle Big Blue Tumble Duster or our vibrating equipment will be used to remove embedded dirt, grime, insects and any moth larva prior to washing.
Rug Clean, Wash & Rinse
Deep Cleaning: By applying an appropriate wool safe cleaning solution, the rug is cleaned thoroughly. At Steam Sweepers Rug Cleaning, our experts use immersion washing. This technique is suitable for most of the rugs including the delicate ones. This provides a deep & effective cleaning without damaging the fibers.
Rinsing: The rug is then immersion rinsed with fresh cold water thoroughly to remove any of the wool safe cleaning solution used during the soil removal process.
Rug Fiber Protector
This is the final step before the rug is hung to dry. Examples include moth-repellent or stain-repellent. Moth repel is good insurance to prevent the devastating effects of the larva that consumes rugs in our area regularly. Sometime on older rug that have lost the natural lanolin that provide spill protection, we apply a product that gives wool some protection against spills.
Rug Combing & Brushing
Once the cleaned rug is washed and rinsed, we groom the fibers to lay with the natural nap of the weave. The combing and brushing allows the rugs fibers to lay flat prior to drying. Just as you comb your hair after a shampoo and rinse.
Effective Rug Drying
After washing, we hang you’re rug in an dedicated drying area with controlled heat, air movement and dehumidification. This quick drying process prevents any mold growth and moisture issues on the rug. Your rug is dry in 24 hours.
Rug Fringe Grooming
Since the rug is hanging the fringe is the last part of the rug that dries. If your rug has cotton fringe, the tip of these fringe fibers are recleaned and dried to give the finished and organized touch. This process is done by hand to achieve the best possible results.
Rug Vacuuming post tumbling & Final Inspection
- Final Touch: Rugs are placed in our Big Blue Tumbler again removing anything that may have lodged deep into the rugs pile and then it is surface vacuumed to remove things like lint on the surface.
- Quality Check: The final inspection is done to make sure the cleaning process has been completed to the highest standard possible and that the rug is fresh & clean before being returned.
