Rug Washing Technician
About Michael Azevedo:
I’ve been lucky enough to be on the Steam Sweepers rug cleaning team for almost a decade now. A job 9 years ago quickly became my career once I learned immersion rug washing was a Craft/Art. I have learned so many interesting things about the world of rugs and most importantly how to bring life back to our customers' rugs. We call them “Story Rugs”, some of family legacy and other of personal experiences and travels. Every rug has a story and I’m happy to be part of the team that allows it to continue. The only thing more rewarding than the Craft of rug cleaning is seeing the joy of our customers when they get their rugs back.
When I’m not here at Steam Sweepers Rug Cleaning I enjoy spending time with my family and skydiving!

Cassandra is a returning customer! Most recently we were able to help Cassandra after her cat had an accident on the picture wool rug. Cat urine has the potential to be especially damaging to a rug if not treated right away. The urine can cause dye bleeding in addition to the unpleasant smell. Cassandra was thankfully able to bring her rug in right away and we were able to treat it with our guaranteed odor removal solution before performing our regular handwashing process. Cassandra was thrilled that she could return her rug to her home clean and free of unpleasant smells!

Fred was a first time customer that recently scheduled a pick up for his lovely tufted wool rug. If not washed correctly, tufted rugs are at risk of delaminating. Delamination is when the adhesive holding the tufted backing of the rug breaks down causing the back to become separated. One of the leading causes of delamination is water damage or excessive moisture. Here at Steam Sweepers, we know how to properly wash and dry tufted rugs to avoid any long-lasting damages. Fred was very pleased with the results when we delivered his rugs to his home in Anacortes!

Pet accidents happen! Lisa is a returning customer who knows first-hand that sometimes these accidents can happen on our nice wool rugs. Aside from the obvious unpleasant smells caused by pet accidents, pet urine can also cause dye bleeding in rugs . It is crucial to address accidents as soon as possible to minimize potential permanent damage to the rug. Thankfully, Lisa called our team of rug experts right away. We were able to offer some immediate steps Lisa could take from home before bringing her Karastan rug into our facility for proper washing. Lisa was so happy with our results (especially our guaranteed odor removal!) that she sent us this picture of her cute furry friend with her now clean rug!

Betsy had just inherited some beautiful Turkish wool rugs, after reading our positive reviews online, she decided to bring them to us for washing. Prior to Betsy inheriting these rugs, they had been sitting in storage. Wool rugs in storage are at risk of moth damage, moths love to lay eggs in wool rugs that are not getting any foot traffic. Thankfully we were able to treat all of Betsy's rugs with our moth prevention solution. This treatment significantly reduces the risk of moth damage and gave Betsy some peace of mind when bringing the rugs into her home! Pictured is one of the gorgeous Turkish rugs Betsy brought in after being washed and treated with our moth prevention solution.

Kim was a first time customer. What makes Kim's rug so unique is the use of white/negative space to create a beautiful pattern. The center motif is bordered by a white pattern that really came to life in the washing process. When dust and dirt start to accumulate, it is easy for the light patterns to get lost in the neutral, cream background of the rug. Our mastered immersion washing process will keep those neutral tones vibrant in Kim's home until the next scheduled wash!

We love the bright colors in Gretchen's hand knotted wool rug! We ensure vibrant colors, like those in Gretchen's rug, stay crisp and bright by starting our rug washing process with a colorfast check. Gretchen appreciated the extra care and attention that we put into her rug and was happy with the results!
